Fair enough. He'll be a good package QB and Kolb sort of sucks.

Part of me is surprised that the Eagles signed him. However, when I remembered that the Eagles backup QB core is quite poor, it kind of made sense.

Whoa whoa whoa...I wanted Vick to play, but not for the Eagles.
So Favre is going to sign with the Vikings. Apparently it's a done deal. You know what Favre?
Fuck it. He beat me to the joke. I'm done.
Mort reporting it now as well. And I was so looking forward to watching NFL Countdown minus the Favrellatio.

Well, fuck it. I'm done. Favre can burn in hell for all I care. He's signing with a team that I despise with every fiber of my being, and its all for stupid revenge against an organization that made him who he was. Thanks for stabbing the fanbase in the heart, asshole.

Settle down there, buddy. I'm pretty sure that this is gonna turn out to be a colossal failure for the Vikings, if past history is any indicator.Quoting MadMan (view post)

And now you know how we felt when Damon signed with the Yankees.Quoting MadMan (view post)
Not really even close to comparable. Damon just left because the Yankees offered him the most money. Lots of athletes do that.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Favre actively "sat out" a season with the Jets for the sole purpose of coming back to play for the Vikings and screwing over the Packers. That's a pretty big grudge.
Comparing Damon to Favre is ridiculous.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Not to mention that Favre is the face of the Packers franchise. Damon played 4 years with the Sox, and wouldn't even be considered for 3rd runner-up as the face of the teams he played for.Quoting shaun (view post)
My Uncle: I'd like to see the New York Post run a big ol' photo of Favre's face with this headline: Inglorious Bastard.

Oh well, nothing good lasts forever. The Viqueens still won't win a Super Bowl, and Favre's legacy as a Packer will last long after this hiccup.

Okay, now that I've gotten past the anger stage of my reaction to this news, I have to say that I still like Brett Favre. Yet, I'm also very unhappy about this, and I'm wondering if it will lead to really bad things. Last season he got hurt down the stretch, and the results were quite poor, ending with him throwing 22 ints and 22 TDs (Jake Plummer numbers almost). Its also not like the Vikings have much of a WR core outside of Berrian and Harvin, either, although granted Favre can just dump it off to AP anyways.
Regardless, this is all strikes me as a rather childish move on his part, as he's playing only to get revenge against the Packers. He still has to play more the 14 other games that won't be against Green Bay, and I will laugh if this decision comes back to bite the Viqueens in the ass. However, right now I have to say this does make the Vikings the team to beat in the sorry ass NFC North, what with the Bears having a crappy WR core, the Lions, well, being the Lions, and the Packers trying to figure out the 3-4.

It's not like Favre is going to throw the ball 30 times a game.

Well, revenge and $12m dollars.Quoting MadMan (view post)
I really don't think the money was a big part of it at all. Favre's never had a contract dispute in 19 years, and he could always get money somewhere, playing or not.
But yeah, he's gotta be the highest paid 40 year old in league history, right?
