Also, I may be in the minority, but I think Brian Billick might be the best sportscaster I've heard in a looong time. Usually coaches turn sportscasters suck, but Billick was actually informative on the fundamentals and the insides of play-calling, etc. I was impressed for his debut.

Oh its on like Donkey Kong. *Longtime Packers fan*

That said, I fear teh AP and teh Allen. I also think that the Vikings would be better off even starting Booty over Jackson at QB. Still that upgraded receiving core will help out Tarvis. The fact that the Packers are starting Aaron Rodgers at QB scares me. I'm on pines and needles man, but I'm also excited.

My Leroy Butler jersey and pizza trump your AP and popcorn.

Probably not, but I can dream.

Matt Cassel, who guided New England to its 20th consecutive regular-season victory after Brady was hurt, will start Sunday at the New York Jets. It will be the first meaningful start since high school for Cassel, who backed up Heisman Trophy winners Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart at Southern Cal and spent the last three years holding a clipboard for Brady.
Yeah... I'd say they need to bring someone else on.

Well, his arm is either "fresh" or "incapable of motion due to rot".

Best running back in the NFL. I hope he can keep himself healthy all season.

So I took the plunge and dropped Indy's defense for Buffalo's. That's probably a dumb move, but we'll see how it works out.

Unlike Morgan Freeman, I agree with the first part.

Unrelated...Does anyone else think Brad Childress is actually the guy who bet his balls and shook on it in Bachelor Party?

No kidding. Chad Clifton hadn't had a holding penalty in the league till last year (8 years!), and he had two on Allen in the first quarter. Super sloppy.

    Pretty much.

Man I'm happy about that Rodgers TD pass, but the one he made to get the Packers into the red zone was really awesome. However I'm sick and tired of them comparing him to Favre. Just like the kid be himself, forge his own legacy, etc. He's not going to be Favre, so enough already.

The pass interference rules in the NFL make me sick.

I would agree with this, if the team had not had the chance to play Favre this season. Now it's a question that has to be asked, because if he doesn't succeed this year, Ted Thompson needs to be fired. And hopefully die. Painfully.

    Actually, I'd accept that regardless.

    Not bitter.

Heh, ahh Mike. You're like my buddy who's also mad about the whole Favre-Packers thing. I donno if Thompson should be fired if the team does poorly (I think they'll finish at least with 9 wins, and maybe a wild card berth, or at least barely miss the playoffs). I must confess I've moved on, and I'm no longer mad at the Packers organization or at Favre (I was really happy to see he did good yesterday, and I loved that 56 yard TD pass-it was vintage Favre). Also I'm greatly amused that tonight its all Metallica tunes being played-I think its pumping me up even more.

I've finally realized I don't dislike Rodgers, but I can't forgive Thompson yet. I still feel that, if you have a chance to have the guy with the most MVP votes the previous year that's still walking after week one, you take it.

Not to mention what the dude did for the team for, let's say, 16 years.

Fact is Thompson made a decision that wasn't based on football related reasons, and that's bullshit.

That said, kid looks good right now. After the season I might rethink my position.

Chris Berman makes me want to shoot myself. He's to football what McCarver is to baseball. Except Berman also shows up to ruin MLB games occasionally too.

The Vikings are really getting screwed by the refs in the first half.

Okay, fair enough man. I understand your position.

That said, Rodgers running in for that TD was awesome. So was that successful PR that was just flat out sick.

That said, way too many penalties in this game. And some of them have gone unfairly against the Vikings. Some pass interference calls went uncalled, for one thing. I agree with Mike that the Packers should have just gone for the end zone before the end of the half.

The refs are all over a lot, and yeah, they've missed a lot of calls and made some dumb ones.

I still hate that man to man coverage is illegal in the NFL.

How did I know that interception was going to happen? I wish the Vikings had a pocket quarterback who could complete a mid-range to deep pass.
