Huh guess I should have seen TÁR.
    Blog!

    And it's happened once again
    I'll turn to a friend
    Someone that understands
And sees through the master plan
    But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own
Well, I guess this is growing up

    Immediate reactions to Globes:

    - I haven't seen a lot of these movies yet, so maybe I'll be horribly disappointed, but I like the lineup of BP noms.

    - Is Elvis not a musical? Baz for Best Director is a bit of a surprise.

    - I'm no Swiftie, but take it from me. "Carolina" was the best part of Where the Crawdads Sing.

    - I'm pleased that Daniel Craig got an acting nom for Glass Onion. He leveled up from the original. Great comedic performance.

    - I may never see The Father, The Son, or The Wife because of my deep-down belief that boring titles = boring movies.

I have a good feeling about these, as in I want to see them beyond mere duty to stay abreast of awards season:
    TAR
    Women Talking
    Inu-Oh
    Decision to Leave
uhhhh, that's about it. I would also take chances on Banshees and Triangle of Sadness.

Tár would be in my top five for the year so far, but then anyone could probably have seen that coming a mile away. The Banshees of Inisherin and to a lesser extent Triangle of Sadness are both worth seeing, even if the latter turns into a politically correct remake of Swept Away in the final stretch. (Incidentally, I'm delighted De Leon got a nomination.) Haven't seen anything else.
    Just because...
The Fabelmans (Steven Spielberg, 2022) mild
Petite maman (Céline Sciamma, 2021) mild
The Banshees of Inisherin (Martin McDonagh, 2022) mild

The last book I read was...
The Complete Short Stories by Mark Twain

I strongly recommend the Dardenne brothers' The Son which is a masterpiece despite its title. L'Enfant (The Child) is really great too.

I've only seen 2 of the BP nominees. I'm kinda checked out in regards to this year.
    Blog!

    And it's happened once again
    I'll turn to a friend
    Someone that understands
And sees through the master plan
    But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own
Well, I guess this is growing up

For me, it's the opposite; I've actually already seen one of the nominees for once (Everything Everywhere - good, not as great as it's cracked up to be). It usually takes me until well after the ceremony.

In some years I've seen most or all of the nominees for BP at least, other years it takes me a while.
