Yay
Nay
Eh, I was terrified by the opening scenes which were so loaded with awful-looking CGI and heavy handed exposition that I thought the entire thing would be insufferable. Fortunately, while by no means a good movie, Black Adam is entertaining enough if you like DC superheroes and The Rock. Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate steals most of the show here, a charismatic and subdued performance that deserved a better film and maybe even a better interpretation of the character - the emphasis on predictions of the future at the expense of other powers making him a bit too similar to Dr. Strange. The DC universe is certainly up for grabs at this point, without a clear path or plan for sequels, and so it's fitting that a movie star like The Rock would step in and make a vanity project like this centered around a secondary character.
