Yay for me. Just very entertaining, exciting, but not something one should think too much about. [
    ].

But it's an effective horror movie, and for a franchise that has sort of been all about horror films, perhaps one should accept such contrivances as par for the course.

What I also found a wee bit scary is Courteney Cox's face.

Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette made this watchable once they emerged, though their presence and strengths were far too limited. A boring, sloppy mess of a film with uninteresting characters and cast-wide weak acting.

I'm down with more movies endlessly mocking fan boys, social media and the Internet film community in general. It's funny as hell to me and honestly it's what they deserve.
    Blog!

    And it's happened once again
    I'll turn to a friend
    Someone that understands
And sees through the master plan
    But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own
Well, I guess this is growing up

Bonkers in a fun way for me. The acting is really bad outside of the original characters, in a way where it feels like we're watching the Stab remake... Which creates a donut hole within the donut type of discussion.

The movie embraced its bonker-ness though.

I also guessed the killers at the first scene...

Scream 4 is Craven's least visually dynamic work in the franchise, but it still looks and is staged better than this entry. Plus the need to frequently pause the film for "clever" meta bits is deadly and makes it feel like bad fan-fiction. Third act bounces back somewhat because it at least integrates those bits back into the action/mayhem, and I love the (intentional?) re-use of one actor's last scene from another non-horror film. 5/10

This is very, very bad. The worst of the franchise by a clear margin.

What was wrong with it, out of curiosity?

    Imported from Blackboard:

I wanted to say that this shit is getting tiring, but it's been tiring for a while now, but more so than all the other entries, this fails at the basic stuff, like incorporating the metacommentary in a way that doesn't seem like a tired YouTube rant (there is nothing clever here - it is all just a Reddit thread read out by an AI voice reader), or by crafting tense set pieces that stab away at the primal areas of the brain and allow you to forget for a while just how idiotic the characters are (and my fucking God are they all so, so stupid in this), or by at the very least trading in on the nostalgia of the past movies by harnessing the complex-by-virtue-of-time older characters and giving them something fresh to do (the movie does not even bother to think of a plausible reason for Dewey, Sydney, or Gail to show up; they almost come across as loser adult gatecrashers at a teen party, wandering around trying to make themselves relevant... which may have actually been a good idea to explore further, if this movie was interested in exploring ideas, rather than sticking itself further and further up its own ass).
