I liked it, tho owing to the nature of LMM's lyrical style and the accents, some of the songs are a bit hard to parse, even while you basically get the gist of their meaning. Certainly a vibrant feast visually. While I like the variety in the ensemble, it does give short shrift to several characters. But the story's direct and the family has real warmth. I liked that Mirabel helped her sisters discover the freedom from the weight of their seemingly blessed gifts. Also, and this is really unimportant, but it seems like giving a fifteen-year-old boy the power to turn into anyone would lead to him never coming out of his room, cough, but this goes unremarked-upon. Overall, it's...nice.
