Another solid Farhadi movie in which a shady scenario gets thoroughly combed over by an equally shady bureaucracy. Moral dilemmas ensue. It's good, but not his best.
Maybe a matter of preference that I find Farhadi at his best when his revolving moral perspectives are pivoted on more than one leading character, or maybe his storytelling feels less schematic when applied through two or more give-and-take viewpoints, rather than just one individual being put through the moral wringer? Either way, tighter writing and more thoughtfully written complex scenarios still put this above his previous two (In broad plot strokes, I might like The Salesman better, but unbalanced character writing put it a minor step below this). The escalation of dilemmas is especially his most stressful since A Separation. 8/10
