I liked Smith in the first flick but he just played himself as usual which is kind of boring. His character felt PG-13 in an R rated movie. I'm hoping if he pops up in a future Suicide Squad movie he'll be more Bad Boys instead.

Blog!
And it's happened once again
I'll turn to a friend
Someone that understands
And sees through the master plan
But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own
Well, I guess this is growing up
I expected this to be entertaining and it was. I love that Gunn went crazy on the comic book style, even including what I understood to be the titles of the issues. I also found an amazing number of references to Argentina. Corto Maltese's name comes from an Italian comic but the street names used for it, Idris Elba attire, drinking of Fernet (which is only done in Italy or in Argentina with Coke), Mafalda car keychain, even a che boludo thrown around by an extra and then of course the President is an Argentinian actor. It was clearly something beyond the typical generic South America setting a Hollywood movie provides, so I guess Gunn took a vacation in Buenos Aires and had a good time.
So yeah, I dug this movie. It ain't, you know, Scorsese but it works.

This was great fun.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
