I really liked it.
It has the same flaws as part 1 (the teenage drama can be a bit much), but it all works.
If Friday the 13th was a YA book, this is what it would be.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Holy jump scares, Batman! This is fine. Way too many similar deaths. First installment had fun with 90s horror and this attempts the same with the 70s, but comes off broad and ridiculous. Not a fan, but hey, the lead is great and it effectively emulates that era. Not a good movie, not a bad movie, moves the narrative forward, so whatever.
