First season takes a bit of time finding its voice, but five episodes in and this season is humming along nicely from the start on a tonal balance between goofy irrelevance, fluidly animated sight gags, and an overarching but gentle weight of real-world concerns/relationships. Love its throughline of conveying the latter's unavoidable messiness in a reassuring, life-affirming way.
    Midnight Run (1988) - 9
    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
    Sisters (1973) - 6.5
    Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5

Just watched this week's finale, and I'm so glad the future of the show is ensured. This second season firmly steps up from the first, keeping up the goofiness of its animation and jokes while grounded to the core of complex, evolving relationship between Tuca and Bertie, which here in the finale ends up as a beautifully planned season-long arc. Can't wait for the third season of this.

Oh indeed. And a bit of a shout out to Steven Yeun's Speckle who quietly was the funniest character of the season.
