The Sparks Brothers (2021, Edgar Wright)
Blog!
And it's happened once again
I'll turn to a friend
Someone that understands
And sees through the master plan
But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own
Well, I guess this is growing up

This was marvelous and very captivating. Also I feel that an even longer movie was in there somewhere, considering Edgar Wright covers 50 years of music. I'll admit I had never heard of The Sparks' Brothers before, and their music seems pretty cool and very unique. I loved the interviews and how candid the brothers themselves were as well. I'm glad I got to see this as not too many documentaries come to my city. Hopefully that changes.

I have no doubt I would like Sparks if I went into their discography for a listen. They’re the kind of musicians I throughly enjoy - inventive and firmly available to changes, yet with a distinct focus that threads a line through their sound. BUT. This might be the worst music documentary I’ve ever seen. There’s no pause for meaning, conflict, heart... its a endless pounding of testimonials. Cheeky and cute in painfully trite ways. An endless infomercial with no break to breathe. Likely the worst edited movie I’ll see this year.
