95% of the populace of my county loves the oppressive capitalist system. It's democrats that screw it up trying to take more taxes and guns and give more to illegal immigrants and lazy brown people.

If you think the above paragraph is a cliche exaggeration, you are seriously out of touch with real middle America.

They write Q conspiracies in the dirt built up on the back windows of the cabs of their muddy raised up trucks around here. That's not something I saw on the internet. Its what I see when I walk out my door. They wear Q shirts.

And that's in the middle of Ohio...imagine what Arkansas and Mississippi and Alabama are up to...

The 1% have convinced poor uneducated white people that they are concerned with their best interests.

Just got cursed out by a gym bro for asking why he wasn't wearing a mask.

The stereotype he lived up to was phenomenal. He was literally the guy from the "I'm going to yell about having to wear a mask starter pack" meme.

    Even drove a lifted truck.

One of my good friends told me that next time I deal with someone like that, I should just very loudly blurt out "STOP TRYING TO TOUCH MY PENIS"

If it wasn't my workplace, I'd totally do that.

    It's 2021.

If they are making the assumption that you don't have a penis, then that's on them.

I really don't think this is true.
You haven't spent a lot of time online then, clearly.

Iowa has farmers who willfully vote GOP even though Trump'a dumb trade wars hurt the state and forced his administration to have to bail out the farmers. Yet those same people will decry "Socialism" here. Give me a break.

Farmers in Virginia [relatives] do the same. The Amish love Trump. Think about that. One cult loves another.

I saw what Skitch talked about when I visited some small towns in South Dakota last year. It's real.

Was listening to a podcast and one of the guys on it is in Florida, and he said he hasn't seen anyone outside his family wearing a mask in like 6 months.

Outside of the airport and older people in grocery stores, nobody wears masks in Colorado anymore.

I suppose. Over 50% are vaccinated now, which includes kids that aren't receiving them yet. Cases are the lowest they've ever been and continue to go down despite businesses being fully open.

Back to normal essentially. I've even been forgetting to bring masks out now.

    About time!

No one wears masks in Mass either. Fully open.

Only 31 new cases yesterday. 1 death.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

    We are nowhere near that.

We literally just came out of a full lockdown like 2 weeks ago.

At this time in the USA 54% of legal residents are vaccinated with at least one dose. NY Times projects 90% vaccination by July of 2022! That leaves all the undocumented aliens (estimated at 3% of population) but judging by some anecdotal evidence some of them are taking this seriously.

Been having an absolutely shit ass week, as I hired 2 new people (to replace 2 who are leaving - one quitting, one transferring) and both screwed me over and never even showed up for their first shifts.

Then yesterday I managed to drop my knife on my phone (a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+) and it DEMOLISHED it.

Currently using my dad's old slow as balls Samsung, and have ordered a cheap ass $200 unlocked phone from Amazon, as I still have 6 months on my contract with the Galaxy Note.

So going to continue playing $120/month for a broken phone.

    Hurray!

    Suck! Suck! Suck!

USA has lots of wealth but it's all being sucked up by a few individuals.

That sucks. My store just fired someone who worked customer service, which is one of the hardest jobs in the store and the most stressful. I figured out a long time ago that relying way too much on high school kids while still not paying high enough wages results in getting often less than desirable results. Although my store is in a crappy part of town so yeah we're not exactly getting people lining up to apply here.

Oh and those self check out machines are a giant pain in the ass. You need two people at least to watch them and management has gone back to cutting hours for cashiers. They were doing that shit before we got the machines though. They made the bots complicated so people can't steal and yet it often results in people leaving before they realize they're done with their transaction. I often apend a good chunk of my shift babysitting them since I'm a supervisor with numbers and can do overrides.

PS -What I mean is that you have to press pay, then tell the machine how you want to pay. People don't often realize you have to do that, they slide their card and leave. If myself or a manager doesn't finish that part, the machine times out and the person is gone so we have to cancel out the order. Bye bye money.

Yeah although it's always been that way. In the late 1940s and 1950s the boom happened thanks to strong unions and the rich being heavily taxed. Then came the right wingers and sellout Dems in the 1970s and 1980s that helped kill it off. Also NAFTA was a huge mixed bag in the 1990s.
