I can't help but be super disappointed with this. Seemed inconsequential, other than being the rock bed to a planned franchise.
Watching now. Interesting figuring out who all the characters are. Ritter was infuriating in Clear & Present Danger.
Something that annoys me even more than the movie. That streaming services FAIL to recognize past franchise movies and they are not made available, even on the platform that is offering the new franchise movie.
I suddenly had the urge to watch The Hunt for Red October and it's nowhere to be found. Such a missed opportunity.
Yep. I worry this will be a bigger and bigger problem as we move away from all physical media.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
They can't take away my DVD of Hunt For Red October.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
???
"Red October" is a $3 rental on more than a half dozen services, including Amazon.
"Patriot Games," "Clear and Present Danger," and "The Sum of All Fears" are available on Prime.
Yeh. First world problems. Was looking for a free stream of THFRO and admittedly was the only one I looked up.Quoting Irish (view post)
I do recall Amazon acquiring some rights when they signed on to the Jack Ryan show.
Admittedly that shit is highly annoying when it happens to me --- the one you want to watch is the one behind the extra paywall.
One of the reasons I dislike Amazon's combo subscription/ rental thing.
My HFRO blu-ray is glorious. Still the best Tom Clancy movie. Clear and Present Danger is second. Love that movie.
Without Remorse was interesting. I didn't love it or hate it, it was better than that Chris Pine movie. I'd watch more of this time stream.
Well, the convoy ambush in C&PD was a good action scene, but that's about the only thing that really stuck out about it, since I remember the rest of it feeling like a fairly generic Harrison Ford Action/Thriller otherwise (slightly better than Patriot Games, I guess, but that's not saying much); Hunt's the only Clancy adaption I've seen that truly distinguished itself from the pack, IMO.Quoting Skitch (view post)
There are some good dramatic layers and arcs in C&PD. The president plays all sides, Ritter the government loyal stooge who will do anything to accomplish the mission (no matter how wrong), Ryan's arc losing faith in the company he keeps and the oath he took, Clark being hung out to dry and finding redemption in his faith through Ryan. Works on the bad guys side as well with the politics involved in the cartels. I quite enjoy that flick.
It helped inspire a pretty good gag on Fam Guy, I will give it that much:
