I much prefer "Grindhouse" movies when they aren't trying so hard to be "Grindhouse."
There's a couple clever action sequences for this low budget movie and have to applaud Chloe Moretz for doing something that she's way beyond
Ridiculous, ridiculously entertaining. The execution is sloppier and story too limited to be as effective/good, but its blasts of colorful action and leave-real-world-physics-behind logic remind me of some of Lucy's bonkersness. By the time someone falls off a plane before another explosion from another plane bounces them right back into it, you're either down with this or you don't. 6.5/10
Midnight Run (1988) - 9
The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
Sisters (1973) - 6.5
Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5
I enjoyed it. Its ridiculous, but who cares. Its trying something new, and I'll take it.
Loved it. Totally fun and wonderful.
