    Best Comeuppance in Film

Several times bac0n and I have discussed this topic, usually after a few adult beverages. The one that always leads the conversation is the one in Daimajin. Bac0n can do it better justice than I.

So, without further ado, what are some of the best examples of comeuppance in film?
“What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, er... an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks and that's all.”

Maybe at first but doesn't he commit suicide though? Takes the easy way out.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

It's not that much about the suicide, but about Andy owning him so blatantly.

Yeah I like that one because he does die, but its a short comeuppance.

For me the comeuppance is more about being thoroughly bested by Andy than him dying or not. As Red said "I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the best of him."

Good point, agreed. But I still wish he had to wallow in longer lol.

The Magnificent Ambersons is the first movie that comes to mind.
    Just because...
The Fabelmans (Steven Spielberg, 2022) mild
Petite maman (Céline Sciamma, 2021) mild
The Banshees of Inisherin (Martin McDonagh, 2022) mild

The last book I read was...
The Complete Short Stories by Mark Twain

    I love this.

    Jen and I are deliberating.

    Some actual quotes...

Jen: How about that guy who got his dick shot off in RoboCop? Nah, that's not good enough...
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

Well, Clarence Bodicker getting stabbed in the neck, with blood splash on Robocop’s chest, and extra arterial spurts is better.

Teenage Scar votes for Johnny Ringo in Tombstone.

Old cynical Scar prefers Little Bill Dagget in Unforgiven.

Trying to think of comeuppance that does not involve death or injury makes the question much more difficult.
