    Suggest Your Unofficial "Trilogies" Here....

I got this idea from just recently seeing Wall-E and Laputa: Castle in the Sky very close together. I was thinking about a third film to complete the "Lonely Robot" trilogy. The Iron Giant? AI? What would be the best order to view them in?

Then I thought - I like the idea of sitting down and watching three independently made films that have a strong connection between them back-to-back-to-back. So I want your suggestions. What are some good unofficial trilogies that would be good to watch together, and in what order? Any connection is possible (plot, theme, mood etc), though try to avoid basic stuff like three random films from the same genre, or three random films starring the same actor, or by the same director - in the these cases, more of a connection would be more interesting, such as the "Brad Pitt vs. WWII" trilogy (Allied, Fury, Inglorious Basterds, in that order). Or you could post a trilogy and NOT state what the connection is because (a) it might be a spoiler, or (b) just for fun (e.g., Psycho, To Live and Die in LA, and Death Proof).

    Recommendations please!.

Yusssss. Funny enough, we do this pretty often at home.

    One we did fairly recently:

    Assault on Precinct 13
    Vice Squad
    The Warriors

Forgot to mention the link between the three.

No real, official link. Just 3 films from the late 70s/early 80s with the same quasi grindhouse aesthetic and exploitative sensibilities. Ultra violent (for the time), street level crime and corrupt cops.

Obvious in having the same actress, but still interestingly linked thematically:

    Lucy
    Her
    Under the Skin
    Midnight Run (1988) - 9
    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
    Sisters (1973) - 6.5
    Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5

I loved Copycat except for Harry Connick, Jr. He hammed it up hard, and it felt like he was in a different movie from the rest of the cast.

And I freaking need to see Sicario, already. I just can't convince Jen to watch it.

Because all three are richly detailed allegories of racial oppression and the sidelining of social justice in the name of capitalist gain in a darkly prophetic look at corporate America and the tensions created when the masses have their voices taken away by a totalitarian government masquerading as a free, first world entity.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?
