THERE WILL BE SPOILERS
I'm 7 minutes in, and this just went Nic Cage Wicker Man.
They're kidding right now, right? No one would react that way to procession of children with masks and a dead dog.

Mom is cool with cult kids but acts like old man in the woods is DEFINITELY a threat.
I forgot this shit with the old dying woman. ffs. Is this subplot necessary? Does it go anywhere or serve a character motivation? I can't remember. We will see.
While watching the origibal last night, I straight up said "why was this character in this movie?" during her final scene.
She's never even mentioned again.
Hmm. Cool effect with the bedroom door leading to woods.
Lithgow is great.
lol, this is terriffic thread idea
gonna watch original + remake
will return after
Can't this pretty much go without saying always?Quoting Skitch (view post)
I actually appreciate the look of the actual cemetery. Yes its all green screen, but cool design.
45 min in...it feels like they're pushing the wife dealing with dead sister as the driving 'horror' of this film more than anything with the cemetery.
Gage is a stupid name.
Kill the fuckin' cat already. (min 47)
Both your kids are playing in the middle of a dangerous highway. Why was the party even IN the front yard. Shitty parenting right there.
So whats the plan here? Everyone came to my daughters funeral, but they won't bat an eye when she is suddenly alive again? Move far away with newly undead kid?

hr 6min
At this point I'm reminded how this film started, with carnage outside the house. We definitely did not need that 'end-beginning' bullshit for this movie.
Again with the cat.
Look, I don't try to harm any living thing. But I don't care if its a mountain lion or a rabid beaver or my beloved undead pet, if that thing tries to come at me I'm stomping its head until it stops moving then getting a kitchen knife and finishing it off.
hr15
20 miles to Derry. Man fuck Maine in its asshole
Lithgow is great.
THIS FUCKING CAT
hr26
Now back to our other program, Rachael and Her Sister, previously in progress.
the fucking cat again
Ah the kid is gonna bury the mom. Did that happen in original one? I thought the dad did. I like that. Like the Evil Dead trying to build an army lol
Shits not looking good for little Gagey.
Final thoughts...
I still don't really "like" either film, but I appreciate the ending of the remake more because it was less stupid. They're both chock full of stupid people making stupid decisions.
So I guess remake > original.
Does the remake use Zelda as the main scare again?
I guess? There wasn't much to be frightened by, especially when that subplot really doesn't go anywhere.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
