I have never played the games, but this looks like another project that's going to legitimize the 'videogame-to-something-else-adaptation' process.

Morris. It's just another adaptation. It won't legitimize shit.
But I hope Nolan & Joy don't fuck this up liked they fucked up "Westworld." A "Fallout" show could be pretty interesting.
I don't agree. This isn't Uwe Boll making House of the Dead or Paul W.S. Anderson making Monster Hunter. The pedigree behind this is higher than what is usually associated with this sort of thing. The same can be said of HBO's The Last of Us.Quoting Irish (view post)

That's a good point.Quoting Morris Schæffer (view post)
I admittedly wasn't thinking of dudes like Boll, but of mainstream projects with named stars, like the "Tomb Raider" movies, "Doom," "Prince of Persia," "Warcraft," etc.
This is the strongest point here. All of those projects were made by accomplished people... sans Doom. And they all turned out terrible beyond recognition.Quoting Irish (view post)
Need For Speed remains the best movie based on a video game.
DUDE...I enjoyed the hell out of that movie!Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
When you say "Fucked up Westworld" you mean from the potential it had at the start?

Essentially, yes. Lotsa possibilities with that premise, but I think Nolan & Joy crawled up their own creative asses and got Lost.Quoting [ETM] (view post)
Got lost. Get it? Hahaha!
:P
I could see Fallout, um, falling, into having two timelines of before & after, simply because there's just not enough characters in the aftermath.
Lisa Joy has Westworld, her own movie, and another series... We'll see if this gets past the pilot stage.
Can I be annoyed now? The thought of a Westworld or Lost like structure is a hard fucking pass for me.Quoting Ezee E (view post)
Highly agree. But can't imagine it being straightforward from Nolan/Joy.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
I don't think it'll be a mindbender approach, but at least a way to tell conflicts/narratives/etc
Lost, NO...Westworld I'm good with.
I'm literally exhausted just by imagining a separate pre-apocalypse timeline on Fallout.
Just... Start in the bunker and tell the past through ephemera.

Would be nice to have the viewer picture the past rather than having our hero looking at some dishelved BBQ grill, and it reminds him of the solid 4th of July party that he had, only for it to be ruined by some TV news where he sees the President talking about war... Only for a loud noise to wake him up, and he hears the political ad from some robot patrolling the ruined landscape.Quoting [ETM] (view post)
*sigh*
How much we want to bet this never happens?
The Witcher is generally considered a success, right? Castlevania has a good reputation too. With Fallout, Cyberpunk and The Last of Us on the horizon, maybe we're entering an age where adaptations from games aren't complete shit.
That being said, I have no interest in this. Fallout games are fine, but I don't expect it'll make a compelling show.
There's a Cyberpunk series on the way too?
Very curious on how they handle Last of Us. Last I read, it wasn't going to follow the characters we know.
Yes, CD Project Red announced it just the other day. Not until 2022, but still.Quoting Ezee E (view post)
And not surprised to hear that about The Last of Us.
So nobody else likes Rampage?
