I'm going to send that to my brother. I doubt it'll do anything to change his mind about wearing a mask, but I have to try.

Really odd to me that Trump and the administration are more or less just ignoring the numbers at this point. There's no condemnation of even California. No states are doing official lockdowns, just escalating threat levels and closing bars/restaurants...
Do you think states, or even the entire country, should have an official lockdown? Meaning all offices and other public gatherings shut down (beyond even restaurants and bars)? I guess we would go back to the "essential" biz being open (grocery stores) but nothing else.Quoting Ezee E (view post)
I don't understand some of the rationale. Gov of Arizona shut down restaurants to 50% capacity but from the shitshow that is happening there, I would go 100%. Gov of New Mexico just (re)shut down restaurants inside completely but can still do 50% on the patio which seems a bit ridiculous. Just shut it down to only take out food.
I also think the Feds (Trump) needs to step-up FEMA or someone putting up free testing in hotspots. Phoenix apparently has some huge ass line for testing (like 8 hours or longer in your car in summer Phoenix where you are cooking), which is mostly huge because so many people still do not have health insurance and it's one of the free testing centers. The mayor of Phoenix was on tv begging for help. This is likely going on in LA, Houston, Tuscon, Dallas, Miami, Orlando, and elsewhere too.

I get that the first lockdowns were to get plans and efforts into place, so I don't think everyone needs to re-lockdown again. But if you're one of those cities with full hospitals... Well, something ain't working. Florida's averaging more in a day than when the entire nation seemed to be locked down.
Those states should also be quarantining anyone traveling to other states.
We're not allowed to carelessly spread a deadly disease?
Well I'm sorry, I thought this was AMERICA.
I think Trump is still hoping it dies down. After all he claimed it was a hoax at first. I'm not going to a bar or restaurant anytime soon to sit down. Take out or curbside pickup is ok i guess.Quoting Ezee E (view post)

Trump wore a mask for the first time on TV yesterday. Wonder if that'll send a signal.
This is what I'm talking about. If this wasn't Trump's hurricane Katrina moment before, it is now. These are in red (or at least purple) states too. Kinda goes with my 2016 theory that Trump doesn't really want to win.

I am convinced that neither Biden or Trump wants to win. Or they want to win with the least amount of effort put forth as possible.

Biden doesn't need to say anything to increase his lead.Quoting DFA1979 (view post)
Not sure he had a lead. Trumpers dont poll, they vote.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
After 2016 I still don't fully trust polls. Also Skitch is right.

More like, do pollsters go outside of major cities?
It seems to me that smaller urban and rural areas of the US have as much touch with the American reality as I do... Or less. It's incredibly easy to basically isolate millions of people and sell them on a totally bogus narrative and have them not question anything. It's the same here and everywhere to some extent, but in the US it has global ramifications.

Walmart is going to require customers wear masks starting July 20th. Oh boy I feel sorry for the employees.

Wonder if Wal-Mart will offer free ones if people are coming in without them.Quoting DFA1979 (view post)

A few businesses give them out or simply say you can't enter.
The poor 85 year-old door greeters at Wal-Mart aren't going to be equipped to handle that I imagine, unless they utilize a security guard to help out.
They should have someone from Loss Prevention handle it.Quoting Ezee E (view post)

My company has them available, if it escalates, a Store Manager or Manager-in-Charge will approach the customer. If they declare it's a health thing, they'll be left alone. But if they continue to raise an issue, LP and/or police get called for next steps.
This is just starting now. We were allowing way too many customers to just come in as they pleased.
Allowing customers with "health reasons" to not wear masks is the stupidest shit ever.
Now EVERYONE has a health reason.
The entire town of Almonte (where I work) suddenly came down with asthma the day after it was made law to wear masks in enclosed public places.
The law should be - if you can't / dont want to wear a mask, stay home.
I had a customer in my store with an oxygen tank, and he was wearing a mask. You can wear a mask with your "claustrophobia".
It has been proven consistently that masks don't reduce oxygen intake, and the whole "rebreathing CO2" thing is bullshit. Some people just deserve a swift kick in the butt.
