As a person in a country where the majority desperately want to be vaccinated, but their government fucks up big time by making money-concern-first deals that make the distribution too scarce and the available ones not effective enough for the existing/incoming strains, thus making our health care system currently in a free-fall spiral (and our infected/death number surging constantly), reading that was infuriating. Heartbreaking as well, sure, but still. Fuck, most of us here would want to be transported to Alabama in a heartbeat if it means access to vaccine of your own choosing that 67% of people there look away from.

And I sighed heavily reaching this:
That aspect just makes me more angry that people in the US won't get the vaccine. I'm done trying to reach those people.

Suspecting the reason for this number is for the same reason/demographic to that of Alabama. But people in these positions should know way better.

So many cops I've encountered have told me they won't get the vaccine. Smh.

New England Journal of Medicine disagrees. Pfizer is 88% effective against the Delta variant.

Yeah, this was my understanding and one dose of Pfizer was in the 36-39% range.

My new cashier believes the COVID vaccines are being used to change our DNA.

She also unironically mentioned "alien overlords" in the same conversation.

    *Heavy sigh*

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I believe Faucci said something I’ve been saying for months, but more gently:

We would’ve been fucked if social media was around during smallpox and polio, among others. A 10%+ fatality pandemic is going to cripple this country. I’ll be disappearing when one of those shows up.

The guy who gave me my second shot said I have unusually muscular shoulders.

So I got that going for me.

Feeling kinda yucky but nothing horrific.

Slept like 16 hours and still feel like I've been hit by a truck. Bit of a headache.

Restaurant in Huntington Beach, CA, demands only nonvaccinated customers, will turn away vaccinated people.

Not surprising, but still, totally breathtaking.

It's easy to call out people who don't take the vaccine as uneducated right wing nut jobs. Alabama only has a 33% vaccination rate.
I think this narrative is only partially true. Something like 55+% of black Americans are unvaccinated. I doubt they are all Trump voting right wingers. I also know plenty of left / liberal / free thinker types in California that either are anti vax or at least vax agnostic. To be fair, I have plenty of problems with Big Pharma just like I have plenty of problems with Jeff Bezos etc. as far as multi billion dollar, multi national corporations go. But I also don't want to roll the dice hence me getting vaxxed.

I think we would have full martial law with a 10% mortality rate. I can't remember but I think the mortality rate in Contagion is something like 15% and we would enter the realm of shutting down entire highways and state lines, plus likely full on Purge like pandemonium (last year's riots being a small taste). Soderbergh's interview with Mark Maron's podcast touches on this. It's pretty interesting. He said he didn't predict the Jude Law character would represent half the country and he underestimated the amount of distrust in the federal government.

Fully vaccinated. Had a bit of a headache the day after. Nothing else.

I can't believe I get to go to the cinema or watch a football match without a mask on now. Wow.

Thanks, all. We’ve been maskless here in Denmark for a while (excluding public transportation), so it’s mostly about me feeling ok with losing the mask in a crowd.
