    Good data.

    https://www.wsj.com/graphics/where-a...home/?mod=e2tw

When people fear their privacy with google, amazon, apple, etc etc, this is the kind of good it can do.
    Bad take.

The "good" at play here is questionable. (Emergency shouldn't supplant liberty; that's how we get things like Gitmo, ICE, and the Patriot Act.)

Guessing WSJ's source here isn't Google, Amazon, or Apple.

NY times ran a similar story yesterday and their source was a 3rd party platform vendor, tracking about 15 million phones (ie: 3-4% of the US population).

There's a whole bunch of problems with these heatmaps and the methodology behind them, but the biggest one is this: They don't tell anyone anything useful.

This is shitty data journalism designed to be viral.

275,000 total cases. 30,000 new cases (at least) in the last 24 hours. 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours. We're on track to hit 500,000 total cases in the USA alone by the end of next week. Probably 1,000,000 total USA cases by the end of April. Aren't we supposed to start opening stuff up in May? Yeah that ain't happening. USA! USA! USA!

I just listened to a podcast about the potential lost Summer for Hollywood w/ Anne Thompson. She thinks the idea that movie theaters will be open by mid June is ridiculous and that Cannes will happen anytime before the end of July is ridiculous. France is mega fucked right now too. Even if movie theaters have a "soft" open in July, expect empty theaters from understandably paranoid patrons. Hollywood is going to have to have same date streaming even w/ the movie theaters (partially) open if they don't want to eat their shirt. Plus I fully expect patterns of shut downs continuing all year long. Meaning if Arkansas (or wherever) has a big outbreak in say October, the Gov will shut down all non essential biz again. A vaccine is the only way to not have a mega destroyed economy for the entire year (which means mega destroyed economy for years to come).

Got cussed out and hung up on by an employee that I had to keep home next week with no pay.

It's more hurtful giving the message than receiving the harsh words. I'll likely be doing many more next week. Who knows, maybe the message will even be given to me once I've strategized the rest of the way.

Liquor stores are certainly an essential business.

Governor Polis has made it a state-wide suggestion for everyone to wear a cloth mask, not a medical mask, when out in public.

It's bewildering. There are whole countries that went into complete lockdown before they had even one confirmed case, just to get a head start and keep it under control. At this point, doing nothing seems... criminal.

America is a weird one. There's always been this strand of "states' rights" and the split between the fed and states. Which means we have people making decisions like the governor of Georgia who only recently found out that asymptomatic people can still have it and be contagious. This is the guy who beat Stacey Abrams (Yale Law grad) who would have been gov but, ya know, she's a black woman in the south.

America plans to beat the Chinese virus through the sheer power of their freedom.

Every time someone in the US gets it, a bald eagle takes flight and bombs some brown people back to kingdom come.

I’m just going to sit here, bake bread, sous vide beef, watch YouTube, and hope I don’t need to use the 870.

    Seems like a good list.

There's plenty to do in doors and outside in the yard.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Do you use a breadmaker? Or straight in the oven?

Yeah, just cut up some more firewood for the pit.

And Meg, the bread was handmade and then baked in the oven.

Can you please post a sample of the bread's smell as it comes out of the oven?

We're on lockdown until Monday morning. Grabbed a few hours for a morning walk in the sun with the dog, but she chased some ducks into the Danube so we had to give her a bath. It was a good day.

Trump says that he thinks NFL will start on-time.

That's 4 years guaranteed for him if it does.
