It looks like Scorsese is finally making a movie for old white men.
    Just because...
Speaking Directly: Some American Notes (Jon Jost, 1973) mild
Dark Waters (Youssef Chahine, 1956) mild
Over Here (Jon Jost, 2007) cold

We think it’s a western. It happened in 1921-1922 in Oklahoma. They are certainly cowboys, but they have cars and also horses. The film is mainly about the Osage, an Indian tribe that was given horrible territory, which they loved because they said to themselves that Whites would never be interested in it. Then we discovered oil there and, for about ten years, the Osage became the richest people in the world, per capita. Then, as with the Yukon and the Colorado mining regions, the vultures disembark, the White man, the European arrives, and all was lost. There, the underworld had such control over everything that you were more likely to go to jail for killing a dog than for killing an Indian.
This doesn't sound like a Western, Marty.

Maybe he intends to have it be more a western in style and sensibilities?

I've read the nonfiction that this is based on and lived for four years 10 miles outside of the Osage Nations in Oklahoma--if it's a typical adaptation, it'll be a mystery tale as US federal agents anchor to the Osage people and work out who appears to be killing them.

The actual tale is bonkers but not a surprise given US history:
    [
    ]
    Ant-Man and the Wasp - 5
    Hereditary - 7
    Won't You Be My Neighbor? - 7.5
    The Tale - 8

It will still happen. Netflix would surely fund the film.

The first time I remember seeing Plemons was in the Irishman in the car with the fish smell. He nailed it.

He's a good actor with a good career, but it has to be admitted that he's still nowhere near the star that Leo is; not saying for sure that Plemons won't be as good in the role, just that the film's star power has undeniably been taken down a notch as a result of the move.

DiCaprio is still in the movie. In the pandemic delay they rewrote the script and Leo decided he was more interested in playing one of the supporting characters rather than the lead. Plemons is replacing him in that lead role.

Wonder if that makes DiCaprio the killer.
