Watched the first episode last night, and a few thoughts:

    ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD***

Visually sumptuous, and this first episode sets up some pretty great ideas and themes. I understand that the show goes downhill real fast, so I'm cautious about the next two and letting myself down.

Class Bang is wonderful. You cannot help but compre his portrayal of the decrepit Count during Harker's arrival, to the legendary performance by Gary Oldman. And when compared, Bang is by far the weaker of the two. But still effectively creepy, with some great clever lines.

Agatha kind of steals the show, and is given the most fun part for sure.

There are some chilling visuals. From the opening eye/fly bit, to the people in boxes, to Dracula's INCREDIBLE transformation out of a wolf body...just as much time has been spent on crafting the visuals as the script, and it pays off.

It's really too bad to read that it falls so far so fast, because this new openly bisexual Dracula was a lot of fun.

I woulda given it a chance but the show is run by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, two of the worst writer-producers on television.

In that combo definitely. Moffat should not be given reign over anything. He's best in small doses (and even then he's basically a one trick pony), and when he runs things, they always start promising but fail miserably by the end, and at a scale incomprehensible from the starting point. He saved and then annihilated Doctor Who, and ran Sherlock into the ground.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

    Never heard of them.

I'm moving my streaming to HBO with Westworld coming out, and won't be watching this.

Moffat did Coupling, Doctor Who, the Jekyll mini series, and with Gatiss he did Sherlock (the Cumberbatch vehicle).

I bailed on the show earlier than most, but even the hardcore fans turned on that show. There were quite a few angry tumblr posts & I once saw a 90+ minute youtube vid detailing the many ways Moffat is the shittiest of writers...
