Final season of the most watched show ever must be hard for AFI not to AFI lol. Even great, buzzy shows that could have made it in, like Fleabag or Barry, probably would not have got in at the expense of GoT.

I know it's technically correct, but The Lion King being nominated in Best Animated Feature is funny, especially when...

    Midnight Run (1988) - 9
    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
    Sisters (1973) - 6.5

I'm all for awards season gradually morphing into a theoretical debate about the ontology of cinema.
    Just because...
The Fabelmans (Steven Spielberg, 2022) mild
Petite maman (Céline Sciamma, 2021) mild
The Banshees of Inisherin (Martin McDonagh, 2022) mild

The last book I read was...
The Complete Short Stories by Mark Twain

Also, does The Farewell qualify for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars this year, too?

I know it was a piece at the NYC MoMA many years ago, and has definitely stuck with me.

As far as the International Film goes, I don't think The Farewell qualifies:

"The category name change does not change any existing category rules, the submission process, or eligibility requirements. An international feature film is defined as a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States of America with a predominantly non-English dialogue track. "

"The Farewell" was produced and distributed by American companies, so Ezee is right. It's not eligible.

(Even if it were, a host country would need to submit it for consideration ... and who would that be? China has its own movies to promote.)

Yeah, that one really seemed to fly under the radar. If only the distributor had given it a bigger awards push, it could've broken out of the MCU ghetto and become a genuine crossover hit.
