I'm lucky enough to have the apps built into my TVs. I want as little as possible hooked up externally.

I would prefer that as well. Do any smart tvs allow for downloading new apps?Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
What do you mean?Quoting Skitch (view post)
I had to download the HBO Max app for my TV. It didn't come pre-installed.
The only things that came pre-installed were Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime.
I downloaded Disney+, HBO Max, the local news app, youtube, PLEX and Vudu (only because i have some movie codes tied to that).
I haven't had a lot of experience with the smart TVs, but the ones I have messed with, you couldn't download new apps/channels like a Roku box. What came pre-installed was all there was.
I guess it depends on what Brand TV you get. Samsung has their own "app store". I suspect others like Sony and LG do too.Quoting Skitch (view post)
Samsung also integrates with their own Smartthing hub which I am already invested in.
Nice! I'll have to change my thinking on smart TVs.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Yes, we have an LG TV that you can download apps on. Of course, I'm not in the US, so I have no idea what apps it offers that are relevant to Skitch, but the possibility exists.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

You have a better app selection with Samsung then LG. Running HBO MAX through the PS4 on the small LG upstairs, while the Samsung in the basement just has an app.
“What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, er... an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks and that's all.”
The appstore on Samsung TVs are nice. I will warn people, that after 3 years of whatever model TV, the TV companies appear to discontinue supporting the stores. leaving them for dead.
Before I moved, I had four Samsung TVs from different eras. Only two of the four were able to actively download new apps (along with Disney+)
The other two stores were discontinued and dead.
Good! Good to know. Seemed to me an obvious feature.
But what do I know. I got a new work truck, it's a 2015, and it doesnt have intermittent wipers.

Oh man, that is embarrassing.
That reads like a Trump tweet.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."

The West Wing is moving to HBO Max. Guess I'll just go buy the whole show on DVD (it was never released on Blu-ray). I did the same thing when Hulu lost The Sopranos.

Because spending $150 for 1 show that you'll likely never watch is better than subscribing for a year? Makes perfect sense.Quoting DFA1979 (view post)
More like 99 at most for 7 seasons which plus tax is around 14 or 15. And no I don't want to pay for another streaming service that I'll hardly use which costs 180 for the year. And dude I rewatch stuff all the time which is why I buy certain movies plus I'll own it. Physical media is pretty cheap these days. Subscribing for one show is dumb as hell.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

Amazson says 150 but if you can find it for 99 that's a good deal. Just seems weird to spend that amount of money on 1 show when you have hundreds at your finger tips for a 12th of the price.Quoting DFA1979 (view post)
I picked up 5 seasons of the Office for 2 bucks each at GoodwillQuoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Look I'll consider HBO Max at some point. Maybe.

That's cool! I own the bluray set and vudu so I'm good, but that is a get.
Awesome, I loved that show as a kid.

Did anyone see that Justice League will now be release as one four hour long movie instead of a miniseries?
Fine by me.
