I'll probably go see this anyways just to revel in how much of a trainwreck it is going to be.

haha. Delayed to 2020 to redesign Sonic

ffs
We live in the weirdest timeline.
Midnight Run (1988) - 9
The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
Sisters (1973) - 6.5
Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5
That’s the absolute worst move they could have possibly made.
At this point just don’t even bother releasing it. It’s done.
On the other side of that coin, it drums up curiosity. Can't wait to see the next trailer, and the ensuing net meltdown of "it was better before!!"Quoting megladon8 (view post)
Any studio that caves to fan pressure for changes should just close up shop.Quoting Skitch (view post)
Also...anyone else like me? Saying, "All this noise over SONIC THE FUCKING HEDGEHOG??" Like they made Joan of Arc a man or something.
Haha 2020?

The thing I think everyone's neglecting to consider with this whole "fans dictating studio decisions" thing is that it's very possible that people on the inside were similarly not pleased with Sonic's design. After all, Sega themselves had distanced themselves from the project, and when that initial teaser poster first released, no official Sega channels or even the official Sonic pages had shared it, only pages related to the movie. And given how quick the director was to respond to the reaction, it's very possible that even he himself wasn't a fan, and that the design was a typical studio mandate that was basically forced upon him. Honestly, I wouldn't at all be surprised to learn that someone on the inside who already agreed with the fan reaction explicitly used that reaction as a means to convince the studio to change their mind and go with something that they themselves would be pleased with, particularly given the quick turn around. *shrug*
So the movie itself still doesn’t look all too good, but the character design at least is a radical improvement.
The movie looks like I could throw it on while babysitting some young cousins and I wouldn't lose brain cells over it. I'm good with that level. Also the redesign looks fab.

What an idea...make the character look like the character, and people like it. What a concept.
My boys are freaking out over this movie and I'm so ready to get them in the theater and be done with it lol
This is getting good reviews, and what is life?
I'll be seeing it sometime in the coming week.
