Child's Play Reboot 2019 (Lars Klevberg)

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8663516/

This features Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry... and it's unclear who voices Chucky.

So I don't know what to think.

It's clear that it's not Brad fucking Dourif. So this is a miss from me unless it gets outrageous positive reviews. Dourif's voice is the one of the definitive reasons why the early movies in this series scared/scare me to the moon and back. He does some primal shit with his voice that creeps me out in an impossible sort of way.

Nothing in the trailer is as scary as my realization that Aubrey Plaza has a mom role now. Parks & Rec seems like a lifetime ago.

    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8

    Tell me about it.

Also, is no one else gonna point out that this kid seems awfully old for a buddy doll?

I'm glad Orion Pictures is still a thing that exists, but I don't know how you play the killer doll concept straight in this day and age like the teaser is apparently selling.

EDIT: There's something about Aubrey Plaza taking roles in niche cinema (this, Ingrid Goes West, An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn) that I really enjoy.

I vaguely remember something about how the doll is an AI / robot / kit.

So it's more of a tween nerd thing than My Buddy.

Hey, man, they made another "Puppet Master" movie so anything is possible

The killer doll is evergreen as a concept. Take something inanimate and innocuous and give it malefic life. Sorta like how ventriloquist dummy horror is evergreen.

Hell, one of my favorite horror movies of recent years is Annabelle: Creation, in terms of giving me good scares, and that's nothing but doll nonsense.

Ugh, apart from a few cool kills, that movie sucked big time. The acting was horrible and wooden across the board, the story moved at a snail's pace, the cinematography was underexposed, rendering everything difficult to see, and I swear, Tom Lennon's character looked older than his dad. For a movie about puppets under a Nazi's mind control, it's a shame to see a concept so awesomely absurd executed in a way that's dull, boring and lifeless.

I confess that it was my first Puppet Master movie, but it didn't make me want to go back and watch the originals.

Aren't like 7-year-olds going through puberty now due to good nutrition?* We're living in weird times.

Yeah no kidding. Horror fans are a very particular brand of weirdo and they are going to shit a brick if it's not Brad Dourif.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Mark Hamill to voice the Chuckster.

    Hmm.

Just heard. This might be a must-see for me. Hamill is a terrific voice actor.

He definitely is, but I'm worried this'll end up being one of his Joker-lite voices that he sometimes trots out. When he's good, he's amazing tho.

So has it been confirmed its "A.I. gone rogue" and not "serial killer voodoo possession"? Because thats kind of a rough hurdle for me.

Yeh, there's a shot in the trailer where it looks like a drone is attacking a kid. I'm disappointed.
