Character A: Let's talk about Christopher Nolan's films.
Character B: The British director Christopher Nolan, who made his debut with Following and then made a big splash with Memento?
    Character A: That's right. That's the guy.
Character B: Oh, I like him. He also made the Batman trilogy with Christian Bale.
Character A: American Psycho Christian Bale? The guy who first came to the public's attention in Steven Spielberg's The Empire of the Sun, which was set during the Japanese invasion of China and based on the life of JG Ballard?
Character B: The very same. Anyway, you were saying about British director Christopher Nolan?
Character A: Yes, the movie director Christopher Nolan. Are you familiar with how a movie is made?
Character B: Walk me through it.
Character A: Well, often a movie will start with a screenplay. A screenplay is a piece of writing that acts as a template for a visual medium.
Character B: Like, words on a page?
    Character A: Yes.
Character B: Wow. And these words describe the action and the dialogue of the intended visual medium, whether it be a movie or -
Character A: - or TV. That's right. Someone writes this screenplay and then the director directs it.
    Character B: Directs it, meaning....?
Character A: You know, sets up the scene, guides the actors, makes the words come to life.
    Character B: Not literally.
    Character A: What?
Character B: Like the words do not literally come to life. That is a physical impossibility.
Character A: That is correct. It is a physical impossibility.
    Character B: I knew it.
Character A: Anyway, as you mentioned earlier, these screenplays contain dialogue.
    Character B: All of them?
Character A: Well, here's what's interesting - the screenplays for silent movies often do not have dialogue.
Character B: Huh, that makes sense I guess. So you were say-

    TEN MINUTES LATER

Character A: ....... and the fact that his dialogue is banal and overly expository is one of the hallmarks of British movie director Christopher Nolan.
    Character B: *stares pensively*
Hey, while I tend to be a pretty big fan of Nolan in general, I'll be the first to admit that his dialogue isn't always the best... I just don't think that line from the trailer deserves to be lumped in with his actual clunkers. It's not amazing or anything, but as far wannabe zippy, Hollywood trailer-fodder lines go, I don't see anything particularly egregious about it, especially not when compared to that incredibly clunky exposition about "the clean slate" in TDKR, or that absolute groaner from its predecessor that I disliked so much I bothered to single it out in my otherwise fairly glowing review of it, where Batman literally says "This city just showed you that it's full of people ready to believe in good"... fucking ugh, eh?

While the line I quoted is not great, it was more about the scene it comes from in the trailer, which appears to be yet another of those info-dump scenes that Nolan loves, with Martin Donovan's character filling in the lead character in on everything.

I haven't seen the latest trailer, so not sure what it shows, but apparently there's a scene involving a 747 which is not miniature or CGI, but a real 747 bought by the production to do with whatever the hell they damn pleased.

The re-release of Inception in the place of Tenet's release adds more fuel to the same universe fire.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I'm hoping the drive-in that's roughly 45 mins from me gets it. I'm planning to go see something there in the next few weeks to test out the process. I'm a huge stickler for where I sit in the theater so I might as well see how much of a stickler I can be about where I park my car, haha.

Read An interview with Emma Thomas in the latest 'Total Film'. She says it's definitely not a sequel, but 'in that vein'.

States are holding on Phase 2 reopening because of the recent explosion in cases across the southern USA. Many theaters won't be able to open until July 15 and even that is up in the air depending on if this uptick continues.

Ok, I'll admit the question crossed my mind too, but I found it funny too. Like how Gabe Newell is a scumbag for not having announced Half-Life 3 yet.

I guess for insisting the movie come out in theaters this summer, apparently tacking the survival of movie theaters themselves to the release and success of Tenet. This second delay is indicating that reality is trumping his obstinance, which I'd agree was pretty scumbag-gy prior to the delays. I wish they'd just push the thing further, but I get that they have to hold out hope that it'll be possible. I'm extremely doubtful and have kind of come to terms that I won't see this movie (unless it plays drive-ins) until the inevitable re-release next year.
