    Match-Cut Music Swap Spring 2008

Hello music fans! I wanna get turned on to new music, and so do you. That's why we're gonna do a music swap.

For the uninitiated, the rules are simple. You sign up, and then you will be paired up with someone else who has also signed up. You will assign to your partner an album for them to get their hands on and listen to. They will do the same for you.

I will leave the particulars as to how the album is decided up to you and your swap-mate, but you might wanna have a brief discourse on what sorta styles the two of you like, so you can avoid recommending a Kanye West album for someone who hates rap.

That being done, it's up to you to go out and get your hands on the album, from your local big-box retailer, mom & pop record shop, online store or where-ever. Give your album a good listening to, long enough to formulate an opinion on it and give it a fighting chance to grow on you, then come back to this thread and let us all know who you were paired up with, what album they assigned to you and why, and what you thought of the album.

    Cool? Cool.

So, the first stage is sign-up. If you want in, either say so here in the thread or via PM. I'll plan on sending out the assignments noonish CDT Monday, April 7th, so you have the entire weekend to make your decisions.

Good luck and Godspeed, Oh Hissing Fauna.

You guys wanna do mixed CDs instead of straight up albums? I could be talked in to that...

To me, a mix feels more like you are judging the compiler's eclectic taste and not the merits of the artist's music.

The assignments have been sent, and each of you should have a PM waiting in your inbox telling you who your swap-mate is along with further instructions. If you haven't received a PM by me, please let me know and I'll fix the situation.
