Two years to get TV together seems awfully long, but I guess it shows Disney+ has some tenured ideas.

Look how long it took for them to produce one season of each Netflix show.

Most of those are ideas that I would totally be interested in seeing if they were movies, but absolutely have no interest in at all whatsoever as TV series. Just not my medium anymore, especially in this era where series like this are oftentimes less episodic and more just 10+ hour long movies. Yeah, no thanks, give me the 2 hour cut please.

I'm curious about Loki, but only because of Hiddleston.

Doubly curious about who, exactly, will tune in for a fucking Hawkeye show with Jeremy Renner.

I'm not sure either, on the other hand, there are like what, 7 seasons of Arrow? And its on its last season.

More interested in Hawkeye than Loki, by a wide margin.

I got the impression Renner will be a side character and the main focus will be on the development of Kate Bishop, which Marvel will use to replace Renner long term and in future avenger movies.

Essentially the same thing they are doing with Florence Pugh ushering in a new Black Widow.

Five years from now, it'll almost be some kind of badge of honor to have not been in a DC/Marvel movie. It's getting tough to think of actors who haven't been in at least once.

This isn't asking for a list btw.

That's not really the same thing. He's talking about stand-alone theaters doing their own booking, not Fathom, which is owned by Regal and AMC.

Side note, went to Fathom's "TCM Big Screen Classics" 30th Anniversary showing of Glory last night and it looked and sounded atrocious. Extremely low image resolution combined with digital artifacts, jumps, and errors throughout the first ten minutes. And the sound was like a half-second out of sync with the picture. Such a waste of time.

Yeah and even then, they started sending out prints again shortly after that development. The arthouse theater I'm a member of got the 4K restoration of Alien and a 35mm print of Aliens from Fox, and they'll be screening them this coming weekend.

We're also screening the original Indiana Jones trilogy (!!) on Labor Day weekend. How we got those from LucasFilm under the watchful eye of our Mouse Eared overlords, I have no idea, but all appears to be well on that front for the moment.

    From MZS:

"I just heard from a film booker that Disney is no longer permitting repertory bookings of 20th Century Fox titles in theaters that show current releases. Rep houses and nonprofits are still OK. Any other bookers encountered this? The tip is legit on my end.

Exemptions are repertory-only, nonprofits, universities, museums, and free or outdoor screenings. Apparently the only individual 20th Century Fox title exempt from Disney's commercial repertory screening ban is Rocky Horror. Fathom Events is its own thing & is not affected."

Ah my arthouse theater is also a nonprofit so no wonder nothing's changed on my end.
