Yes it's a movie, but I wouldn't say it's a narrative feature. I'd say it's a documentary, along the lines of a concert film like Stop Making Sense. But, I say this only because it was intended to play in movie theaters. Otherwise it'd be a TV special.Quoting Idioteque Stalker (view post)
The Academy has disqualified it because apparently in their documentary rules there's something that prohibits a straight-forward documentation of a live performance without some sort of alteration or outside element included.
I wouldn't have thought there was any consideration of any of the actors being nominated or the screenplay, etc. But I was surprised to see it disqualified from documentary (and Best Picture) consideration.
