    I dont think anything he was attached to was "totally definitely happening".

    He wrote a fifth Alien film that the studio rejected for Scott's version. (all he did was release a bunch of concept art for it)

    And then the he produced a bunch of shorts, hoping a studio would want to move forward with one of them. (none of them wanted it).

    Then he tried to crowdfund one of the projects. (it didn't earn enogh money. )

    This is a greenlit project by a major motion studio.

    Both District 9 and Elysium had sequels that got pretty far into pre production then never materialized, and his name was attached to Star Trek before Justin Lin.

    And I definitely felt like his Alien 5 was being touted as “this is happening for sure”. Both Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn said they were doing it. Unless everyone was just incredibly hopeful.

    Blomkamp is near Tarantino / Del Toro level of talking up projects that never happen.

    I hadn't heard of the sequels to those first two films. Would be nice though. I'm a fan of both.
