There was a pretty obvious direction to take this franchise, which the original title of the film, Goosebumps 2: HorrorLand, indicated. So, clearly, Sony was well aware and was on the right path. But then somewhere along the way they decided it would just be easier to regurgitate the first film like a bird feeding its young, and then vomit a bunch of product placement on top of that, and call it day. The film literally stops dead in its tracks at one point for a commercial for Street Fighter V, available now on PS4, buy a copy today.

(I actually really want that Stay Puft Marshmallow Man plushie that appears in the same scene, but no, I must remain strong. I must resist the siren song of late capitalism.)

Also the movie is just really fucking bad. It felt less like a final cut and more like watching the deleted scenes on the DVD special features.

Thumbs down. The bumps failed to goose me once again.
