One of my birthday gifts was a life preserver for Ein to wear swimming.

Has anybody been in Arches National Park this time of the year? Planning an epic road trip for next summer to hit a bunch of national parks (Black Hills, Big Horn, Yellowstone, Tetons, Arches, Rocky Mtns) Wondering if it's too hot for camping and if we should plan for an Air B&B instead.

Last weekend we went camping with my buddy and fellow foodie Andrew, so we decided to go all out for Friday dinner: rack of lamb & ratatouille, all on skewers.

We got a late start and didn't wind up eating until 10pm, but holy shit, so worth it.

Whoever says you can't eat like a king when you're camping is a crying fool.

I need one of those rotating grilles. I'm tired of burning my hands off trying to rotate skewers.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Or for much less you can get some nice BBQ gloves. These are the ones Scar got for me one year, love them. Probably need to get a new pair.

One of my go-to meals when camping are my breakfast burritos. They're always a hit, and 9 times out of 10 when I am camping with other people, I am asked to serve them the day after we arrive when people are feeling sluggish from an evening of hellraising the night before.

These things are great because they really fill you up - perfect fuel for a day of hiking, canoeing and other outdoor activities. Also, virtually all the work can be done at home before you go out, leaving you to just reheat them over the fire the morning of, and very little cleanup afterward, as you cook them right over the fire in aluminum foil.

    Recipe follows.

Chorizo should really be the only breakfast burrito meat.

If I ever go camping again I'll have to write that down and try that, bac0n.

Bac0n almost didn’t make it up north last weekend. I hate to ask him to tell the tale again, but it is worth it. ;-)

Currently training for my October mule deer hunt in Idaho. Incline trainer + 20 pound vest = sore.

Bear opener is Sept 1. Papa Scar had a rather large black bear with a bit of brown tint on camera. You know it might be big when you plan on bringing the 45-70 howitzer with hard casts, a 357 revolver with hard casts as back up, and a beast of a blade as a back up to the back up.

    I like redundancy.

I would want backups for hunting something that can hunt you. Good luck!

Day two of bear hunting. Been on stand since before dawn. Rains about to move in. At least three more hours on stand unless primary gets the bear, (I’m secondary this hunt).

If Scar is forced to use the back up to his back up (beast of a blade) then it sure as hell will be. For the bear, that is.

Day three. Primary Hunter is already headed to his stand. Sunrise is in another hour. On stand yesterday for fourteen hours.

Never had the best of luck embedding photos from my phone.

    .

Still raining. Rifle has been wrapped in a garbage bag since yesterday afternoon. Should subside in another hour or two. Have a good day!

. It’s a Tops Wild Pig Hunter. Normally I’d embed a picture, but my reception is barely one bar.

Anybody feel like delivering a tall cup of black coffee and a couple sacks of White Castle? ;-)

One sack for me, another one about sixty yards out in front of one of the stands. Skitch, I’m looking at you.
