I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

There's meta, and then there's this episode which feels like snake eating its own tail for two whole loops. I mean that as a positive though, as the pile-up of self-consciousness dizzyingly keeps its energy up all the way through, and is just so dense with many layered jokes. Not a personal favorite (yet, as this feels like one that rewards repeated viewing), but I borderline loved it.

Yeh these writers feel like they are significantly smarter than any show I've ever watched; especially around the Bechdel test segment.

http://www.story-train.com/ not being real was disappointing.

It's just that by your comment this episode I think you would like/love it. This episode feels very much a Dan Harmon episode more than usual and makes me think of a season 2/3 Community episode on overdrive. Even the tagline is the same idea from a Community tagline.

I don't see "Young, dumb, and orbiting the sun" coming but that's damn hysterical.

This episode reminds me how much I'd missed the family dynamics this season. Even if the writing is kinda slacker than many past family-focused episodes, seeing them bounce off each other is still a kick, and sure-fire funny.

This second half of the season was definitely an improvement over the first one, particularly on the humor. People are really tiring of Rick's shit and I hope they expand on the sad Rick moment that ended this season [
] instead of tossing it aside like S2's.

The Vat of Acid episode was incredible.

Yeh I agree the second half is better than the first. Disappointed that Tammy won't be a recurring villain.

I didn't expect her to be one. This show never has really been about recurring villains, IMHO.

Which is surprising to me, because characters like Prince Nebulon or the FART would be fan favorites and would be welcomed back. Plus Tammy goes all the way back to season 1.

This has been the show's most uneven season, although its highs make me slightly prefer it over 1, but they save the best for the last. In fact, it feels like they first had this endgame of everyone rising above Rick in mind (after a brilliant S3 pushed his mindset to the limit, that some retreat is needed if the show is to be sustained), and then struggled to pave the way in individual episodes to there. But I love how the finale ties it all together (including from past seasons as well), in addition to being a great, family-dynamics-advancing R&M episode in general; one of my faves of the show.

OK, your top 7 episodes, GO!

    7. Rick Potion #9 (only because it's deep seated in the lore and i use the term "Cronenberg" with my wife now when something is all messed up and she totally gets the reference)
    6.
    5. Look Who's Purging Now ("you like that? You want to jump to three weeks earlier when you were alive?!"... gets me every time)
    4. Rixty Minutes (Inter-dimensional cable, Antis in my eyes Johnson, Real Fake Doors... and that final arch with Beth and Jerry... so good. It's also the episode that Morty reveals to Summer they are not even from their reality. And i think this is the turning point where Summer becomes cool)
    3. The Ricklantis Mixup (tales from the Citadel)
    2. Pickle Rick (self explanatory)
    1. "The Rickshank Rickdemption (i must have watched this episode 75 times and that's no exaggeration.)

Nothing from Season 4 yet but they deserve rewatches.

I wouldn't know how to rank these unless I watch them again closely, but here are episodes I gave 9/10 to, chronologically. (In roughly my TV episode score term, 9/10 is what I think as a show's possible peak, 10/10 is an all-time personal favorite episode)

    2x04 Total Rickall
    3x01 The Rickshank Rickdemption
    3x03 Pickle Rick
    3x07 The Ricklantis Mixup
    4x05 Rattlestar Ricklactica
4x10 Star Mort: Rickturn of the Jerri
    Midnight Run (1988) - 9
    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
    Sisters (1973) - 6.5
    Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5

I really liked S4 a lot. I still think S3 is the best one of the bunch, though. The time traveling snake episode was pretty great.
    Blog!

    And it's happened once again
    I'll turn to a friend
    Someone that understands
And sees through the master plan
    But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own
Well, I guess this is growing up
