This movie was inspiring, and is so relevant to today in so many ways. This is a must watch.
It's a little by the numbers and hap-hazard in its structure, but damn if it doesn't pack an emotional wallop.

Same. It'll never win awards for its technique, but I think it's generally a wise move to not delve too deep into building a psychological arc for Rogers. There are hints of that at the end with him feeling like he's losing his impact in a culture and society moving increasingly toward sensation and cruelty. But it's an overview, and so it moves from highlight to highlight, some of them weirdly handled (the congressional testimony bizarrely doesn't include the song's final couplet) but others just as impactful all these years later (Jeffrey Erlanger's song still affects). And like you say, the final minute is ingenious. I'd say it reduced me to tears, but Fred wouldn't like that verb, because it's okay to cry.Quoting Lazlo (view post)
