Don't get too excited, Spinal.
This might be the worst film I saw in 2017.
And for the record, yes, Mustang was one of my favorite films of 2015.
There's not much to say, other than to say, it is a completely misguided and wrongheaded "humanist" drama about race relations in the US. A white man and a black woman get handcuffed together to a pole for the film's climax and have to work together to move forward. The drop in quality between Deniz Gamze Ergüven's debut and sophomore effort is utterly shocking. There has to be a Guinness World Record for this.
