This is a noble effort that I wish I'd liked more. It goes out of its way to be disturbing and edgy but it's very well directed and has some excellent performances by all the girl. The problem is, we've seen it all before. I knew what was coming on every predictable beat.
The body horror special effects are awesome, though.

The (New) World
On second thought, there are more serious problems with this movie's screenplay than the overabundance of clichés. There are many open threads of the story that are never picked up again, like the erotic strangling or the scene where she goes to the doctor. Why spend time on those if you're not gonna do anything with them?
Also, other than the two main girls none of their other friends has a proper character - they're all interchangeable, and they're on screen for the bulk of the film. That's an obvious flaw.
