    The Top 20 Sandbox Video Games

    Okay, now that I'm playing Red Dead Redemption, I feel like I have had a feel for a lot of sandbox/open world games out there so I made a top 20 list. I also feel like playing another game on MC and see if MCers can win a game.

    If anyone can successfully predict the top 3 games on the list, they will win a free game of their choosing from the list (PS3/PS4/Xbox/Steam, whatever)). Further, if anyone can successfully predict any 3 games sequentially, you will win a copy of one of those three games (of your choosing). Remember, your choosing the movies that I am ranking, not your personal list.

    What qualifies to be on this list?
    • Need to be described as "Open world"
    • I am NOT including Digboxer games in this list (The Forest, Rust, DayZ, Subnautica, Space Engineers)
    • Garry's Mod is not a "game" / MMOs are not on the list / Simulators are not on this list
    • They need to be more Sandbox and less RPG - there are tons of RPG games that could fall into "sandbox" category but if the focus of the gameplay is around the world, you're on the right track. Final Fantasy XII and XIII would be an example of a game that would NOT qualify for this list.
    • There is one game on this list that is described as "Action-adventure" before "open world".


    Games that are auto-Exempt from this list:

    • No Man's Suck
    • Terraria
    • Minecraft
    • WoW
    • Simpsons Hit & Run
    • Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.
    • Elite: Dangerous
    • Stardew Valley
    • Arma 3 and all mods / spinoffs


    Couple of Hints:
    • Out of 20 games, there are 13 developers
    • Out of 20 games, three developers have nine entries
    • Out of 20 games, 18 of them are sequels or continuation of the series
    • Out of 20 games, three have a suffix of "3", three have a suffix of "4" and one "V"
    • All the games were released between 2002-2017
    • 2013 had the most entries
    • 2 games are exclusive to two separate platforms

    Just received Eric's guesses, and I guess I wasn't clear.

    You can try and guess all 20, not just the top 3. And if any 3 of them are in the correct order, you win. So you more chances of winning.

    Anyway, I will start the countdown on Tuesday, so folks have the weekend to get their guesses in.

    Also, not sure how i fucked this one up, but this has been changed to:

    Out of 20 games, 18 of them are sequels or continuation of the series

    Yeh that's right, there's only 2 original games on this list.

    I'll be waiting for it.

    It's not sandbox, but the only story-based game I'm looking forward to at the moment is Detroit. Maybe Red Dead in the winter.

    In the meantime, I'm grinding in MLB The Show.
