Saw it in a theater with Duncan Jones.

It's... disappointing. There's a whole lot of nothing going on. The mystery "women is missing" angle is not interesting. Women in this film are marginalized to prostitutes (with hearts of gold!) or background characters. There's also some weird gay/trans panic in this film that rubbed me the wrong way. The look of the film is nice as is Clint Mansell's score, but yeah, a return to form for Zowie this is not.

I'm the absolute prime target for this film.

Didn't like it. Desperately wanted to. Too many unlikable characters, empty climax, depressing ending made me ask why the author even bothered with the story. Sure, you can construct a story that may mirror real life. But if that story is depressing as fuck with no payoff I might as well just watch the news instead.

And once again, Amish misrepresented on the silver screen. I don't say that in a way like Amish are better than shown, I mean that in a way of portrayed here isn't accurate even with the futurescape. That aspect was nonsense.

I didn't all in all hate this like I've seen so many already, but yeah, it's definitely Duncan Jones' worst to date my a fairly large margin, and a pretty big mess of a movie. It's really all over the place tonally, and can't ever quite figure out what it actually wants to focus on. Also found our main villains just really bizarre, in that they felt like the type of characters who would typically be the main villain's lackeys, but nope, here they're the main main bad guys, and arguably the main characters at that, seeing just how much screentime they get compared to our hero. And I dunno, this thing just kinda goes all over the place, and can get really bizarre in certain cases. But even so, I dunno, I can't say that I ever actually hated the movie. It never angered me or made me bored, just perhaps a bit bewildered at times. Still though, it's... something, I guess. *shrug*
