Dr. Smith's real first name, June, is a tribute to June Lockhart, who basically reprized her role from Leave it to Beaver for Lost in Space. And that middle aged guy she stole the Dr. Smith Lab cot from? The Real Dr. Smith? That was Bill Mumy (Will Robinson). That must have been something special for him, seeing as he thought of Jonathan Harris as a fatherly figure up until Harris' death in the late 70s.

Episode 8 season 1 was pretty thrilling, with a major wtf ending. I find all if this hugely engaging, but it's dumb at times. I mean, i liked the kid Will, the actor playing him is good, but the script just does him no favors like [

releasing doctor smith cuz she's got robohead in her backpack, supposedly when they patch him up he could fly the jupiter instead of his old man

]. So why not run with that idea to his mom and make the good doctor give up robohead? Stupid stupid boy.

As much as I liked season 1, some questionable things in those final episodes, like

blind bat-like creatures whom we're told react to the slightest sound, but somehow don't when the team is extracting the rocks (=fuel) from the stalagmites, and then at the end emerge en masse to assault our heroes just because it would make their escape from the cave more exciting.

robot who becomes evil (=serves Dr. Smith), and then, exactly when the script needs him (or it) to, comes to the rescue Darth Vader-style to rescue Will from real evil robot who is probably related to robot #1.

waterfalls and the artificial trench. They made it out of there, but the fx are so sweet and the mystery landscapes so intriguing that I'm hoping this isn't the last we'll see of waterfall planet.

Amazing season 2 finale. I hope they don't wrap it up in 3 seasons. I feel like there's tons of stuff they could show out there. It's so good at world-building, special FX are first rate too.

I got teary eyed again.
