    Bad Boys for Life

I didn't see a thread even though I could have sworn there was one. Anyway, this is pretty cool as it seems Sony is close to signing a deal with two Belgian Morrocans to helm the movie.

    http://www.denofgeek.com/us/movies/b...rs-jump-aboard

They are amassing raves now in Belgium for a movie which is hailed by the critics as being 'unflemish as it gets'. It's about 4 dudes from the city of Antwerp who dream of a life of fast cars and money and steal cocaine from some local drug dealers.

Here's that trailer, the movie was basically their audition for Hollywood. Beverly Hills Cop 4 is another one they've been signed on for some time now.

Thought this was the title for the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence vehicle.

We never had a thread. We discussed the announcement in the Upcoming thread.

Bad Boys II is still one of the greatest action films of all time.

Probably the most excessive movie ever made.

That reads like bait. Say something great, then follow it up with something which reads all kinds of wrong.

Personally, I'm hoping shit gets dialled down a lot. I mightily prefer the first BB.

Fun action but awful story, unnecessary subplots, and so damn long.

The latter pieces take down what otherwise has Michael Bay's best action sequences??

I really only remember two action sequences from Bad Boys II. One is ripped off entirely from Police Story, and the other is the grotesque one with corpses being thrown at cars. Neither impressed me.

I remember the one where the camera is swooping around the room between the cops and bad guys and Smith and Lawrence are yelling at each other. I dont remember it being a good action movie at all.

Though Henry Rollins is in it at the end, and he's badass and drives a hummer, so many it is the best action movie ever made?

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

"This shit just got real" is admittedly instantly iconic so I do think it's a noteworthy inclusion in the action movie pantheon because of that scene alone, but I really do think Bay generally shoots awful action scenes.

Mind you, I said Michael Bay's best sequences, not best ever lol.

I like that he loved his highway scene so much that he reused it (some of it down to the same CGI) for The Island.

I didn't realize other directors were taking this on though, so that's cool.

Yeah I have no delusions about the spot it belongs in the pantheon of cinema as a whole, but that doesn't stop me from having a fun time watching it. Its funny stuff, too. Smith and Lawrence play great off each other. Hell, they could sit in room and bicker for half an hour and it makes me laugh.

I think you're thinking of the Island and Transformers 3?

It's hilarious how the cars that get thrown off the truck and into the Ferrari's path seem to assume a life of their own, bouncing around like ping ping balls. I always thought Bay has a legit action classic in him. I just don't think he gives a shit. The Rock is my favorite but more because I find it genuinely funny.

Bay is lazy, yet he sometimes pulls magic out of his ass. Anyways I only liked the first Bad Boys film.

Looks as if it's trying hard for that Fast & Furious audience.

Somebody remind me: Has Will Smith been in a good-to-great movie in the last 20 years?

I thought MIB 3 was better than I was expecting. Not sure that fits into what you’re looking for though. Not exactly a great movie, just...better than my 2/10 expectations.

But looking at his filmography, the last thing he did that was legitimately good was the first MIB in 1997.

After that, I Am Legend should have been fantastic. Should have been.
