One of the best films I saw at TIFF this year was a short stop-motion animated film, This Magnificent Cake!, which is about the Scramble for Africa.
The trailer hides how amazingly laugh-out-loud funny and surreal this movie gets. It's divided into five chapters, and I spent the first two crying and choking from laughing so hard. The third segment is when it starts getting more surreal, which I found less successful overall, but it's still a strong piece of animation that builds to one final, brilliant note. No idea when this is getting released or how, but I hope it becomes widely available because I think a lot of you would like it.
