Hey, I invented my own superheros too. My favorite was one called Jackhammer. I probably have his entire history and comic book series archived somewhere.

Ditto here. Not only that, but I used to make comics starring these made-up superheroes, and traded them with my friends who did the same. I think even to this day I can draw a pretty good Cookie Man.

She was in an episode of Six Feet Under, and I just recently saw her again in an episode of Friday Night Lights. No one special really, she just popped into a dream I was having (not in a sexual way though).

Anything from Dali, particularly this one:
Don't mean to hijack but there is no art thread.

I love Dali too, but I tend to lean towards his less abstract stuff. A few of my favorites are Crepuscular Old Man (which I posted in this thread), Meditative Rose, and Figure at a Window. All three of which are very un-Daliesque.

What are your favorites?? There was a Dali exhibition in DC a few years ago that I regret not seeing.

edit: The one watashi posted is beautiful. I don't think I have seen this one before.

completely copying the other one I did.

    1) Which wild animal would you like to rear?
    heh "rear"

I love apes/monkeys, so would love to have a Bonobo (it's like a chimp but more mature in terms of actions/personality)

    2) Which literary character would you want to encounter?
I don't read much fine literature, mostly quick and easy action novels and odd works. That and juvey fiction. I'll say Juliet, she's hot, right?

    3) What piece of music / song would you like to inhabit?
How does one live in music? Eh, I'll go with Kazmir- Led Zepellin

4)Who do you regard as beauty incarnate?
this came up in a google image search: I'm thinking the exact opposite of that....

Actually, Natalie Portman for sure. She's teh hottnez

    5)Person whose looks you'd thieve?

    6) Which historic figure would you choose to be?
Hard one, I'll go with Ramses II
dude reigned for 60+ years, lived 90 years, and built a lot of the cool stuff in Egypt.

    7)Painting you'd like to hoard?
    hehe hoard.

Never seen this one before, but googled Dali and it's freakin' sweet.

8)Film that scarred you for life?
It did for the longest time when I was little, as did Nightmare on Elm Street, but now they're humorous, so I guess not scarred for life. Not sure anything's really scarred me for life, but Pink Flamingos was pretty damn disturbing.

    9) Historic city you'd most like to visit?
Roma, Athens, or Giza are highest on the list, but i'll visit any and all I can. I live for this stuff.

    10)Your ultimate idol?
William Hung. I wish I could make money on my singing

    11)Your ideal place to live?
Not sure til you live there, but I've heard San Diego is nice, and I've always wanted to visit Denver, and I root for their sport teams. Or you could see #9 above too.

    12)Your greatest non-human love?
does my dog count? Maybe football. wish I still played.

    13)What were your childhood obsessions?
    Larissa Oleynik, nintendo, football, spaghetti

14)Who's recently been loitering in your dreams?
Dunno, I don't really remember my dreams.

15)What's your "cunning plan"? (It's gotta be something preposterous.)
I'm gonna become president, declare myself Emperor for life, take over Canada, then move south through Mexico and South America before slowly taking over the world Napoleonic style. Or perhaps I'll make some fudge.

there is one going on right now in LA. it's actually not as complete as i expect. (magritte's came here earlier, and wow! isn't that exhaustive.) there is the ever famous persistence of memory and the birth of narcissus, but i don't see the one with skinny leg elephant and tiger. there is the showing of destino which i watched earlier. come to think of it, the presentation seems to gear toward motion pictures -- they show his stuff in spellbound and excerpt from bunel's.

when it comes to surrealist, i always prefer magritte to dali.

    1) Which wild animal would you like to rear?

Well, I already have a lion. So I guess I'd have to say a white bengal tiger, those kick ass.

    2) Which literary character would you want to encounter?

I have no idea...I don't think I've ever read a book about a character I would actually want to meet in real life.

I guess it'd be cool to say I'd met James Bond.

    3) What piece of music / song would you like to inhabit?

"Stay With Me" by Clint Mansell/Kronos Quartet/Mogwai, from the sountrack to The Fountain

4)Whom do you regard as beauty incarnate?

    Male:

    Female:

    5)Person whose looks you'd thieve?

May sound weird, but even though I think there are parts of his face that are downright ugly by themselves, when put together I think Javier Bardem is pretty damn good-looking...

    6) Which historic figure would you choose to be?

I honestly don't know. Maybe Jacques Cartier...exploring a new continent would be pretty exciting.

    7)Your first crush?

Probably Bridgette Wilson as Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat.

I used to rewind the scene where she fought Kano and did the hand-stand neck breaker thing over and over and over, hoping that if I rewound it enough times one of her boobs would fall out of her shirt.

It's crazy that I was more of a pervert at the age of 8 than I am now.

    8)Person you quote the most?

    I don't quote people.

    9)Painting you'd like to hoard?

    I know nothing about paintings.

I'd rather have this on a canvas on my wall...

10)Film that scarred you for life?

Same as Jen, I saw a video on the net once of a Jewish man being beheaded by his Muslim neighbour in front of his (the Jewish man's) children.

    That deeply disturbed me.

    11) Historic city you'd most like to visit?

Hmmm...late 1800s London, to see that incredible discrepancy between upper and lower class people, first hand.

    12)Your ultimate idol?

Both the actor, and the character he's playing.

    13)Your ideal place to live?

    Anywhere that Jen is.

    14)Your greatest non-human love?

    Entertainment media.

    15)What were your childhood obsessions?

    Sharks, books, drawing, superheroes, movies.

Pretty much the same as now.

16)Who's recently been loitering in your dreams?

I rarely remember my dreams...and I rarely have good dreams.

17)What's your "cunning plan"? (It's gotta be something preposterous.)

Get my foot in the Hollywood door by convincing Tom Cruise to let me helm M:I:4.

Stylized film death can = cool.

Death in real life = horrifying.

So why would you watch a real video of someone being beheaded? I really can't imagine why anyone would want to see something like that. The fact that websites exist with that kind of content disturbs me.

I didn't realize that's what it was until it was too late.

A guy from my class sent me the video file and it was simply labelled with a number.
