Look, it's not like Spacey's been insisting that he's heterosexual this whole time so he has to address some kind of bombshell revelation that's uncovered by the allegation. We all knew he was gay. He knew everybody knew he was gay, he said so himself in that statement. He's just a dude who refused to talk about it even when someone pointedly asked about him being seen going on dates with men, which he had every right to do. So yeah, he could've easily made the same "I was drunk, I don't remember" excuse while maintaining his usual non-acknowledgement of his sexuality. He chose to conflate the two things by talking about them in the same statement.
    Quote Quoting Donald Glover
I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Sort of the Devin Faraci apology that David Cross also did recently.

The "I don't recall doing this, but I apologize anyway" is such a weird thing to me, but I suppose to call the accuser a liar would be just as bad?

I hate the conditional apology, "If I did it, I apologize."

Life pro-tip. Don't put "if" statements in apologies. Apologize or don't.

Coming at someone with "If I did it, I'm sorry" is about as bad as "I'm sorry if you took offense."

It's like pleading "no contest" --- the accused can appear sensitive without being culpable.

I always get the vibe these statements are about avoiding or minimizing civil suits and nothing else.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I mean, if you never apologized, or simply forgot about it, because it happened twenty years ago, the best thing to say it seems is to be honest, apologize, and admit that you've changed a lot since then. Maybe without social media/tweeting, and just find the actual person.

Although nothing Kevin Spacey could really do in this case. His past caught up to him there. He'll just have to disappear...

It is a bit weird to be accused of attempted rape and just say that you don't remember it. I mean, if I don't remember something like that, it didn't happen and the other person is a fucking liar.

Or I was blackout drunk... But I've been blackout drunk a few times in my life and I usually heard all about it the next day.

If I heard someone unironically criticize a show/movie/whatever with the phrase “white boy bullshit”, I would immediately file everything else they say from that point forward into the “dumbass bullshit” quadrant of my brain.

    Jesus. The plot thickens.

This would sort of explain why he kept his private life so private. This was bound to come up otherwise.

That Headline! How true is all that? One could call it convenient timing. Although I (obviously) do not condone Spacey's behavior, and find his apology half-assed, I keep thinking if there is no justifiable way for me to feel a little sorry for him. What if that was the only occasion when such behavior was shown? What if he realized his mistake the minute it was over back in 1986? Social media are such a relentlessly destructive and easy way to throw shit out there that i hope the victims also carefully consider the far-reaching consequences. No case is the same, not every person who's exhibited this sort of behavior a true sexual deviant and predator. Gradations you know. Or is this post completely wrong? If it is, sorry. I'm not siding with Spacey, just trying to shine the light a little bit the other way.

Now a second person accused Spacey of indecent behavior. The person continued saying the victims could be as many as with Weinstein. Some of this could be so unfairly damaging if it wasn't true.

Eh, sorry if the source is shady. I saw it in Argentinian media (which is very untrustworthy) and I looked for the American source.

All good. Daily Mail is a typically untrustworthy media source. Others that are good to ignore include Breitbart, Shareblue, Washington Examiner...

Honestly, better to stick to what is fairly reliable: BBC, Al-Jazeera, The Guardian, The Washington Post. The Hill is reliably facts-in-the-matter for American politics.

    Same.

Didn’t realize Nazi children were such a problem in America in the 60s.

After incorporating a normal article of clothing into a Halloween costume, is it possible to reset that item of clothing back to its non-costume status, or will that piece of clothing forever be a costume?

Depends how drastic the piece is. We talking Marty McFly vest or Borat swimsuit?

I'm concerned with your consideration of the Borat swimsuit as a normal article of clothing.
