I don't know why you're so aware of the legal definitions of rape in your state. If you are that aware, then it should not confuse you as to why an assault of a sexual nature that is not a rape would be called a sexual assault. Where's the confusion?Quoting Pop Trash (view post)
What I do know is that, in common conversation, it is most honest to use the most accurate commonly used word. You know what rape means. Apparently you know a lot about sexual assault. How is this confusing?
