    Phantom Thread (PTA, Dec. 2017)...

Christ. Looks like something's got the nominations for costume, cinematography and production/art design, as well as probably acting and more, all sewn up.

EDIT: IMDB says Anderson himself is DP, tho "uncredited." That's a bit odd. Anyone know the story there? The first time he's lensed one of his own films.

I'd like it if we could figure out how to make this thread disappear and reappear in different subforums please. Maybe occasionally load up when someone's trying to open a different thread. Sometimes go missing for days at a time. Thanks.

I don't follow. Did someone make this thread already and it disappear? Or do you just mean there have been site shenanigans lately?

You might say those happenings seem to be the result of a....*dun dun dun*...phantom thread.

There has to be something going on in this movie that the trailer is keeping a secret, or at least a twist of some kind.

In any event, it's PTA and Daniel Day-Lewis together again so I am already eager to learn what my favorite director has up his sleeve this go-around.

There's always a few of these movies that come out a year. Kate Winslet was in one last year. I skip them because they're all pretty boring.

But ... this one's directed by PTA. So, there HAS to be something here right? RIGHT?

Sad to say, but I might wait around for some reviews on this. Never had to say that about PTA before.

I figure that, too. There's always something more with PTA. I'll see it because it's Day-Lewis in (he claims) his last performance.

By the way, I can't unsee it now, but the poster just looks like Daniel-Day looking at the poster of Phantom Thread.

    Gorgeous.

Hopefully, it's not just lush surfaces and emotionally impenetrable like Inherent Vice and, to an extent, The Master.

Blech. Can you imagine having to deal with that pompous DDL character on set (as hes supposedly a method man)?

That being said, TPA hasn't really disappointed me yet, so I may check it out at some point.

Looks like a well acted bore.

And I don’t believe for a second that DDL is done acting.

Nah. He'll come back for two to three more I figure. At least one more Oscar win.

Although, he did cobbling for a while, so I can see how this movie could've been sold to him.

Kinda wanna see a Method Man biopic starting Daniel Day-Lewis.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

I'd like to say Jim Jarmusch could direct, but we all know it would be Todd Haynes.
