My initial instinct is that this may not be a good idea. But he's successfully navigated tricky terrain before, so we'll see. In Django, he sided with a freed slave. With Basterds, he put us on the side of Nazi-killers. Hopefully he'll find a way to similarly make this palatable.

Hateful Eight is a great film. I don't know what quality of cinema you watch on a daily basis, Ezee, but even if it's not an instant classic, it's better than 95% of what I get to see.

I think I was initially mixed. I've grown to like it more over time, but I don't think it compares to Django/Bill/Basterds at all.

I'm wondering if Hateful Eight is a new transition for character-focused stories.

Certain subject matter can be unpleasantly exploitative and tasteless if the artist does not find the correct angle. Tarantino has mostly avoided this trap in the past, which is why I am giving him the benefit of the doubt here.

I would hope they don't reenact the murders at all if this gets made. The word "Pig" getting written on a wall in a pregnant woman's blood is not something I need in my life as entertainment.

Same here but it does seem to fit Quentin's recent trademarks. Personally, I'm more interested in Winston's Ellroy reference - the Manson murders are a great backdrop for the portrait of an era in American culture.

By the way, has anyone seen the fictional films already made about this subject? There are surprisingly not that many of them.

Saw part of the Jeremy Davies one on TV. Terrible. I am more weary of this subject matter than previous Tarantino movies. There is the potential there to glamorise Charles Manson, when in reality he's just pathetic creep who took advantage of some very vulnerable people.
