I was opening the thread...
Please be a trailer. Please be a trailer.
But the poster is good enough. What a poster.
Could be my most anticipated of the year.
I want that poster on my wall.

Very likely mine too. Almost forgot it was even coming out this year when that insane, incredible, indelible one-sheet kicked me out of my seat to remind me.Quoting Ezee E (view post)

He's not one of my favorite directors, but he frequently gets great performances from his actors. Jennifer Lawrence in a surreal, character-driven arthouse movie has me intrigued.
I just googled "mother!" and this was the top story:

Oh damn. I'm there.
Looks like it might be one of those non-groundbreaking stories but done really well kind of thing.

Interested only for Michelle Pfeiffer + Ed Harris.
I don't usually get stuck on the age thing -- but there's a 21 year difference between Bardem and Lawrence. Like, we're getting into "Daddy" territory now.
This neatly describes Aronofsky's career.Quoting Wryan (view post)
Aronofsky hasn't had that sort of age gap before, so I have to imagine it means something for the characters.
Also, blood-filled light bulb taken directly from The Evil Dead.
I was going to say the exact same thing. Not even intended as a jab, I love Aronofsky.Quoting Irish (view post)
I mean, a trailer like this really does nothing but show me more of the thing I'm already more than fully on-board for.
Might still see this at TIFF, though the month-early release bump-up means it's not as essential for me, other than to possibly see a lavish gala or (even better) a Q&A for it. I've seen multiple Aronofsky films at the festival in the past decade, but never actually gotten to see him in person. Apparently he comes almost every year, even when he doesn't have his own work here.

Part of me wants to say that the film looks like it'll have some power-dynamic thing going on.Quoting Dead & Messed Up (view post)
The other part of me wants to point out that Aronofsky and Bardem are the exact same age and he's dating Lawrence in real life.
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
Not sure if Aronofsky's work got progressively sillier after Pi or if I just outgrew his schtick at a certain age (I haven't seen it in ages), but I might pay to see this at some point just because I'll see anything Jennifer Lawrence is in. Except that YA science fiction movie which I can't even remember the name of.
Just because...
The Fabelmans (Steven Spielberg, 2022) mild
Petite maman (Céline Sciamma, 2021) mild
The Banshees of Inisherin (Martin McDonagh, 2022) mild
The last book I read was...
The Complete Short Stories by Mark Twain
The (New) World
Aronfsky's framing and camerawork looks kinda hacky here.
