I'm nostalgic for the days when my knowledge of Alex Jones was just "Richard Linklater's weirdo friend."
    Say it ain't so, Link.

Waking Life was how I discovered Alex Jones. I thought he was just some harmless Austin oddity. It's been weird seeing him rise to prominence over the years, knowing he and Linklater are still tight. I believe Linklater has mostly avoided answering whether or not he supports Jones' lunacy. He always just says he's a respected friend.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Holy fucking shit. White House has banned CNN, Buzzfeed, Politico, NY Times, and LA Times from attending Sean Spicer's press briefing today.

AP and Time boycotted the briefing in solidarity.

Yeah, pretty soon it's gonna be Fox, Breitbart, and Infowars in those briefings, and no-one else.

I do, however, still think he will drop dead during his first term.
Irrelevant. Bannon will crawl inside and take over operations...literalizing things.

The lengths he is going to in order to discredit the media ... in my mind, it means he has done something extremely illegal that he believes is in danger of coming out. He may as well be saying 'warmer ... warmer ... warmer.'

I wonder if Der Leader knows those briefings are tradition, not law? That he could boot the entire WHPC out of the White House and nobody could do a damn thing about it?

The Guardian and BBC were also banned.

Along with AP and Time, USA Today also dropped out in solidarity, and the Wall Street Journal says it won't attend future events should this continue.

    Probably no big deal.

As most of you know by now, I'm not a very opinionated person and had zero reaction---none at all---when I heard about it.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Lying is a reflex for Trump. It's second nature. I wonder if even he knows what is true anymore. It's the Rashomon presidency.

Someone buy this man a cigar.

[Seriously, I get that Maddow had to make this a thing, because it is the first trickle of Rappin' Donny's taxes, but there's nothing too meaningful you can glean from a 1040.]

So he paid $38 million on $150 income in 2005.

Think about that for a second. Paying $38 million in taxes alone.

Issue is, he claimed deductions on the order of $100 million to get down to paying a 25% tax rate. I don't blame him for that, because if the loopholes are there, they're going to get exploited. (I'd prefer a loophole free system where the issue doesn't come up, but y'know.) Other issue is it highlights the disparity between his taxes with (25%) and without (4%) the alternative minimum tax, which he's promised to abolish.

Something pretty funny as I was watching the reveal live last night was that when Maddow was still doing the background runup, we were anticipating it to be a whole load of nothing and said, "What are the chances that Trump sent it to the journalist himself? He probably did, right?"

Then she brought Johnston out, and the first thing he said to her was that he thinks it's likely that Trump sent it to him. Made me laugh.

    What a world.
